VISALIA – Tulare County residents who are in search of a pediatrician or are seeking relief from sinus and allergies have two new physicians available to them.

Kristen Currie, D.O., a pediatrician, and Jason Roos, D.O., an ear, nose and throat physician, recently joined Visalia Medical Clinic and are now accepting new patients. Dr. Currie recently moved to the area from Philadelphia, where she was practicing pediatrics, while Dr. Roos, moved to the area from Spokane, WA, where he was a practicing ENT with Rockwood Health Systems.

Dr. Currie arrived in Tulare County as COVID-19 was starting in the area and worked to support the community by serving as a resource. “Doctors are here to help and answer questions and we’ve been doing a lot of that to make sure people have relevant information to care for their families,” said Dr. Currie, whose motivation to become a physician was sparked at just 7 years old as she watched doctors and nurses care for her sibling in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. “I’m happy to be in the area and I’m doing everything I can to reassure parents right now and help them take care of their children during this time.”

Dr. Currie, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Florida, received her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She went on to complete her residency in general pediatrics from the University of South Florida. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Roos, who joined VMC in May, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Utah State University, and received his medical degree from A.T. Still University. He went on to complete a residency in Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery at Michigan State University and is Board Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology Otolaryngology.

“I know what it is like to suffer from ear and sinus problems and I can help,” said Dr. Roos, who had several ENT surgeries and procedures. “There are so many things we can do to provide relief and all close to home in Tulare County.”

Although trained as a surgeon, Dr. Roos also provides many services in the office. “They are safe, cost effective, and patients get great results,” he said. “I like educating patients and providing multiple treatment options, whenever possible. Then together, we determine a plan that works best for the patient. I have found patients appreciate the opportunity to take control of their health and find what works for their specific needs.”

To recruit more physicians, Kaweah Delta partnered with Visalia Medical Group, the physician-owned medical group, to form the Kaweah Delta Medical Foundation in 2015. The Foundation owns and operates the clinic, employing all staff. The physicians, who make up Visalia Medical Clinic, the physician-owned medical group, provide patient care.
