Complete surgical and nonsurgical hip care

Our experts understand the impact hip pain can have on your life and will partner with you to find relief. When you can move without pain, you can stay active longer, contributing to your overall health and well-being.

Hip care begins with advanced diagnostic techniques, so your medical team can customize the treatment options most appropriate for your health and condition.

Not all hip conditions require surgery. Whenever possible, we recommend conservative treatments, including:

  • Bracing: A brace stabilizes the joint to promote proper healing.
  • Joint fluid therapy: Injections lubricate the joint, stimulating the body’s ability to produce its own joint fluid and relieve pain.
  • Rest/ice/compression/elevation: Also called RICE, this simple at-home treatment may reduce inflammation and pain.
  • Pain and anti-inflammatory medications: We may provide oral medication or administer pain medication via injections.
  • Orthopedic rehabilitation: This includes physical therapy and occupational therapy, as well as other treatments based on your individual needs.

When hip surgery is recommended, our orthopedic joint replacement specialist will answer all your questions and make recommendations for care.

We are leaders in hip surgeries such as:

  • Hip replacement: We are proud to offer direct anterior hip replacement, a minimally invasive approach. With this surgery, there is no need to cut major muscles, so you recover faster.
  • Hip revision surgery: If a past procedure has failed, our surgeons perform revision surgery to remove excess scar tissue or to replace an artificial hip or other components.

Offering some of the latest advancements in hip replacement surgery

At Adventist Health, education plays a large role in our care. We educate you about your procedure in advance, so you always know what to expect. Additionally, our nurse navigators provide in-depth information for all joint replacement patients about how to prepare for surgery as well as what to expect during and after the procedure.

Once your surgery is complete, we follow up with you to help prevent complications and ensure a healthy recovery. You’ll work with the same team before and after surgery, so you know exactly who to turn to with any questions or concerns.

We look forward to partnering with you on this journey to wholeness.
