At Adventist Health and Rideout Cancer Center, patients receive the most advanced, effective cancer care in the area. Our providers have long been recognized as the premier physician team in the region, and we are privileged to partner with patients on their path towards healing with a whole person approach honoring mind, body and spirit. From diagnosis and treatment planning through survivorship, you can expect expert, personalized attention from our team.

Partnership with UC Davis Cancer Care Network

Additionally, our cancer team benefits from a partnership with the UC Davis Health Cancer Care Network. Specialists from both programs participate in virtual tumor boards where individual cases are presented for review and discussion. Through this collaboration, an unparalleled team develops tailor-made treatment plans to meet specific needs and goals.

Accredited Community Cancer Program

Adventist Health and Rideout Cancer Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACoS CoC) as a “Community Cancer Program”. This accreditation requires we follow the highest standards of care and provide a comprehensive cancer treatment.

Treatment Close to Home

To ensure the best possible outcomes, we are committed to delivering cancer treatment in an environment featuring the latest technological advances and oncology treatments. Every step of the way, the Adventist Health and Rideout Care Center team provides care along with physical, emotional and spiritual support.

Radiation Oncology

Radiation therapy targets the tumor, so the rest of your body has minimal radiation exposure. Radiation beams fight cancer by damaging the DNA inside cancer cells, killing the cells or slowing their growth. Our technology includes:

  • Varian 2100 EXCI Linear Accelerator with 120 multileaf collimator, dynamic wedges and IMRT treatment
  • Varian True Beam Linear Accelerator providing IMRT, IGRT, SBRT,
  • Cone Beam, Rapid ARC and Respiratory Gating Radiation Treatment
  • Advanced Eclipse Treatment Planning System

Medical Oncology and Hematology

Medical oncology, also known as chemotherapy, targets fast-growing cells to stop or slow cancer from spreading, and hematology focuses on the treatment of blood disorders such as lymphoma, leukemia and more.

While radiation therapy or surgery target specific areas of the body, chemotherapy works on a systemic level, affecting the entire body. Our specialists will recommend the right medications and dosage for you.

In the comfort of our 24-chair infusion center, patients receive chemotherapy by needle or catheter. Based on your treatment plan, these medications will reach and destroy cancer cells in any area of the body. Infusion also is used to administer antibiotics, pain medications and other treatments. Additional services and technology include:

  • Biotherapy
  • Immunotherapy
  • Bone Marrow Biopsies
  • Blood Transfusions
  • Injections
  • Phlebotomy
  • Blood Draw Station
  • Pharmacy

PET and CT Scans

PET (positron emission tomography) and CT (computed tomography) scans are clinically safe, proven methods for imaging a variety of cancers, including lymphoma and colon, lung and breast cancer. Benefits include:

  • Aid in the diagnosis of suspicious findings
  • Assistance determining appropriate treatment
  • Monitoring the success of therapy
  • Detecting recurrent tumors
  • Assessing tumor aggressiveness

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are studies of new or experimental medicines and treatments. A trial is initiated when there is reason to believe a new drug or combination of medications might be of value in curing or controlling cancer. If you wish to take part in a clinical trial, the clinical staff will fully explain to you what is required and how to volunteer.

Telemedicine

Telemedicine enables our physicians to consult with UC Davis faculty on patient care issues and participate in UC Davis tumor board meetings, grand rounds and continuing education.
