Volunteer

Be A VolunteerThe men and women who serve as volunteers at Adventist Health Sonora are more than friendly faces and caring partners. They're an integral part of the medical center's daily operations.

It's not uncommon to find our volunteers working in several critical areas. Volunteers play a key role in the Surgery Center, where they update waiting patients and/or their families. You'll find volunteers in our admitting reception area, where they expedite the check-in process. At the lobby's information desk, volunteers are available to answer questions, look up patient room numbers, and provide direction or escort visitors to other areas of the medical center. Volunteers are essential in our long-term care facilities, the Emergency Department, the Diagnostic Imaging Center and the medical-surgical patient rooms. And those are just the volunteers who are visible to the public. There are many talented volunteers helping behind the scenes as well.

Many of our volunteers have real-world business skills in computers, office management, accounting, medical records and customer service. Some are retired physicians, attorneys and administrators. Others have honed their one-on-one communications skills through careers in patient comfort, reception, sales, cashiering, homemaking, arts and crafts, and publicity. All skills and backgrounds are welcome.

We are especially proud of our Volunteen and Collegiate Programs, which offer volunteer work experience to high school and college students.
