Adventist Health welcomes Jerry Neria, M.D. as provider and residency faculty member

February 13, 2019 (Hanford, Calif.) – Adventist Health proudly welcomes board certified family medicine physician, Jerry Neria, M.D., to a role as both a primary care physician and faculty advisor for the Adventist Health Medical Office – Hanford Family Medicine Residency program.

Specializing in family medicine, Dr. Neria provides comprehensive care for children and adults, including; wellness checks, physicals, chronic disease management, lifestyle education and women’s health. He has a special interest and training in sports medicine and nutrition.

As a faculty advisor for the AHMO-Hanford Family Residency program, Dr. Neria will help instruct and inspire new teams of residents in the same program that he himself attended.

Time spent as a competitive bodybuilder and interest in sports and nutrition led Dr. Neria to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Following his passion for health and fitness, Dr. Neria worked as a personal trainer and nutrition coach, earning his Master of Public Health degree from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, Calif. He then decided to pursue his passion for nutrition and health to medical school, receiving his medical degree from Ross University Medical School in Dominica, West Indies.

Dr. Neria completed his residency in family medicine with Loma Linda University in partnership with Adventist Health and the AHMO-Hanford Family Medicine Residency program. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

A native of Southern California, Dr. Neria is passionate about his role as a primary care provider and advisor to future medical residents.

“I strongly believe in the integral role that diet and exercise play in our overall health,” he says. “I want to partner with my patients on creating lasting lifestyle modifications in activity and nutrition that will make a lasting positive impact on their health. I want to help showcase this approach to our program’s residents as well.”

In his spare time, Dr. Neria enjoys staying active and spending time with his two young children and wife, who is currently a third-year family medicine resident.
