Adventist Health Ukiah Valley proudly receives Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Quality Achievement Award

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines - Stroke Honor Roll Gold Quality Achievement Award. This award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines on the latest scientific evidence.

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley earned this award by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients. These measures include evaluation of the proper use of medications and other stroke treatments which align with the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines. In addition, patients also receive education on managing their health, get a follow-up visit scheduled and other care transition interventions.

We take pride in treating our patients in a timely manner and excelling in quality and outcomes,” said Amy Larson, Stroke Program Coordinator at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley. “Being honored for providing excellent patient care is the best recognition a hospital can get.”

Additionally, Adventist Health Ukiah Valley received the association’s Target StrokeSM Honor Roll award. To qualify for this recognition, hospitals must meet quality measures developed to reduce the time between the patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment.

Schwamm, MD, national chairperson of the Quality Oversight Committee and Executive Vice Chair of Neurology and Director of Acute Stroke Services, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. “Research has shown that hospitals adhering to clinical measures through the Get With The Guidelines quality improvement initiative can often see fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates.”

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley achieved Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers from The Joint Commission, in conjunction with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. This designation signifies the organization’s dedication to achieving the best outcome for patients presenting with symptoms of stroke. With stroke being the leading cause of disability across the nation, early diagnosis and intervention can affect the quality of life greatly.
