Surgeon William Stone, MD, FACS, Joins Adventist Health Sonora

Adventist Health Sonora is pleased to welcome board-certified surgeon William Stone, MD, FACS, who joins the hospital’s team of general surgery experts, including Carlos Alvarez, MD, Peter F. Oliver, MD, Kimberlee Reed, MD and Sherry Sumner, PA-C. He cares for patients with a wide range of surgical needs, offering minimally invasive procedures, endoscopy, dialysis access, removal of cancerous tumors and more.

Stone became a surgeon because he has a desire to help people and wants to, “personally impact and better the lives of patients through direct intervention.” He is committed to the care of each of his patients and sees them through the entire surgical process, from diagnosis to recovery.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Stone earned his medical degree from the University of South Dakota, Sanford School of Medicine in Vermillion. He then completed a general surgery residency at Synergy Medical Education Alliance (now known as Central Michigan University) in Saginaw.

Stone is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and certified by the American Board of Surgery. He also has served as an associate professor at the Sanford School of Medicine, Central Michigan University, and Michigan State University.

When not caring for patients, Stone enjoys spending time with his wife and their daughter and two sons. Mountain climbing, skiing, camping, soccer, coaching and ultimate Frisbee are just a few of his many interests.
