Adventist Health Tulare Medical Imaging celebrates ACR mammography accreditation

News

TULARE – Women in Tulare and surrounding communities who need diagnostic mammography services may access high-quality mammograms at Adventist Health Tulare, which received accreditation in mammography from the American College of Radiology (ACR) in August 2020.

Considered the “gold standard” in the medical imaging industry, ACR accreditation is bestowed upon facilities that prove their ability to meet the highest practice standards, following strict image quality and procedure evaluations set forth by board-certified radiologists.

To achieve accreditation, Adventist Health Tulare’s Medical Imaging department had to pass a voluntary peer review and inspection on staff qualifications, equipment, quality control and assurance, image quality and radiation dose, before earning its seal of mammography accreditation.

“We are proud to be recognized by our industry peers and the American College of Radiology,” said Clint Watson, director of imaging services at Adventist Health in the Central Valley. “This mammography accreditation is evidence of our efforts to provide patients with the best care and service that will help them live healthier lives.”

The mammography accreditation is the latest recognition of the Medical Imaging department in Tulare, which also has received ACR accreditation in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services.

Digital mammography is currently available in the new mobile unit adjacent to the hospital, where patients also may receive bone density screenings (Dexa). The mobile unit will be available to patients until the opening of the renovated digital X-ray suite, located inside the hospital. The expansion, currently under construction, will add 3D mammography, digital fluoroscopy and two C-arm imaging scanners, representing more than $4 million dollars in improvements.
